When opened in 1997, The
Studios, a CCHV project, was the
first single room occupancy (SRO) residence to be
built in
Chicago's south Loop in decades
With funding from both private and public sources, CCHV
built a six-story, 170 unit, 63,000 square foot
building.
Rents are
affordable to a mix of single adults---those formerly
homeless, low-income wage earners, students on financial
assistance and the elderly.
Individual units are fully furnished and include cooking
facilities,
bathroom and generous storage.
Superb common area spaces accommodate supportive
services
and amenities for maintaining a healthy
residential community,
as well as a pleasant outdoor
courtyard for recreation and rest.
The Studios is managed by the Chicago Christian
Industrial
League (CCIL) under a joint arrangement
between CCHV
and CCIL.
