CENTRAL CITY HOUSING VENTURES, a non-profit coalition of faith congregations, was founded in 1989 in response to the alarming decline in the number of affordable housing options available to low-income individuals and families in Chicago’s central city. By marshalling the collective resources of its member congregations, CCHV seeks to:

  • Meet the housing needs of low-income wage earners, those precariously housed, and those currently homeless;
  • Support affordable housing with on-site social services such as counseling, adult education, and job training, so that residents may stabilize and rebuild their lives;
  • Build awareness of the importance of maintaining affordable housing options, including single room occupancy, single-family, and multi-family communities in the central city.
